minutes to chalk up its 11th victory in 15 games The UMass front line which had performed poorly in losses to Holy Cross and UConn redeemed itself against BC The big men accounted for the first 20 points in the second half when the Minute men made their move Mark Donoghue led UMass with 22 points while Mike Pyatt and Jim Town each tossed 14 Derick Claiborne who had 10 points was singled out for defensive praise by coach Leaman though Derick gives away some height we felt he was the man to play Bob Carrington He did a great job in holding Carrington to 17 I really think that was the turning said Leaman Carrington was high scorer for the Eagles now a dismal 8 12 while Will Morrison had 16 and Bill Collins 13 UMass has another big game Saturday night when it visits UConn in a Yankee Conference show down The Huskies won at Amherst this past Satur day to keep their YC hopes alive UMass has lost only once in the YC compared to a pair of losses by UConn Jim Rehnquist went on a scoring rampage last night to break the Amherst College individual scor ing record Although he sat out four minutes Rehn quist scored 50 points erasing Dave mark of 43 Rehnquist had a perfect 18 of 18 from the line also a record and 16 of 24 from the floor to lead the Jeffs to a 92 85 victory over MIT Springfield gave Bridgeport New England's top Div ision Division II team a real battle before bowing 82 77 Mike Gambardella led the Chiefs with 21 SC was within two in the closing minutes but a three point play by the Phil Nastu provided the clinching markers Williams dropped a 91 66 decision
