UAS Technikum Wien Celebrates “30 Years of Change Our Tomorrow” | FH Technikum Wien (2024)

In 1994, studies began at today’s UAS Technikum Wien with the aim of training specialists in future technologies. 30 years later, Austria’s University of Applied Sciences for Engineering and Digitalization has 18,000 graduates and more students than ever before – the occasion for two celebratory events at the main site of UAS Technikum Wien.

Festive event for stakeholders

On June 12, Kari Kapsch, President of UAS Technikum Wien, the management team consisting of Barbara Czak-Pobeheim and Florian Eckkrammer as well as Rector Sylvia Geyer invited representatives from politics, important partner companies and partner institutions from the UAS sector to an anniversary celebration at Höchstädtplatz.

Of course, Martin Polaschek, Federal Minister of Education, Science and Research, was also among the well-wishers: “Change our Tomorrow is not only the appropriate motto of UAS Technikum Wien on the occasion of its anniversary, it also applies to the entire UAS sector. With its practical, application- and career-oriented academic education at a high-quality university level, urgently needed specialists for Austria as a business location have been trained here for 30 years now. This applies in particular to the STEM fields, especially technology, digitalization and AI. To tackle the technological challenges, the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research has been focusing on STEM for many years, including in this year’s call for applications. In this way, we are giving graduates of UAS Technikum Wien the tools they need to actively shape our future and the digital transformation.”

In his welcoming speech, Kari Kapsch, President of UAS Technikum Wien, emphasized the economic and social importance of well-trained technicians: “With our claim Change our Tomorrow, we express that a technical degree enables people in a special way to make a meaningful contribution to shaping our future. The top priority of UAS Technikum Wien is to provide Austria’s economy and industry with sufficient numbers and the best quality of these skilled workers in order to strengthen Austria as a technology and business location in the long term. We will continue to do everything in our power to achieve this in the future. Not only do we have the technical and didactic expertise, but we are also the most attractive university in Austria for applicants in the field of technical degree programs.”

Open Day for employees, their families and friends

A week earlier, on June 6, more than 600 participants celebrated an afternoon and evening in a relaxed atmosphere as an “Open Day for employees, their families and friends”. Colleagues from teaching, research and administration took the opportunity to show children, partners, relatives and acquaintances around the Technikum and round off the day with live music from the band Großmütterchen Hatz.
