Novus Bannerlord Launcher (2024)

What?
Novus(New in latin) Launcher is a new Bannerlord Launcher that supports presets with different load orders and gives you the ability to access certain game settings without starting the game. You can also create new presets, add URL's to those presets and share it with people so that they can import that preset and load their mod without being worried about the load order.

Why?
As you are all aware, most of the Bannerlord players are using mods to make the game more fun for themselves. Whether they are some total overhauls or small tweaks - you probably do required mods for your playthrough. And having so many mods cause compatibility issues or requires knowing clashes and forces you to come up with your own load order all the time. This becomes especially problematic if you enjoy switching themes from now and then (i.e. like playing with Eagle Rising and switching to Native factions for another mod etc) And you require changing all this inside that limited mod launcher window that doesn't even properly resize or handle long lists. After seeing people are struggling with this, I decided to give it a go and create my own version for better handling of these issues. After working on this for ~3 days I would like to introduce, Novus - Bannerlord Launcher: A completely standalone launcher.

Main Features
- Steam Workshop + Modules: It scans all the mods, including Steam Workshop mods before showing you the list
- Resizeable and Dynamic: It comes with resizeable window along with full screen support. 4K, 8K, doesn't matter, it should be responsive always.
- Presets: Preset selection drop-down that organizes your current load order based on preset you created previously and/or imported.
- Search functionality - If you end up having bunch of mods, don't even waste your time by scrolling, just use search bar.
- Mod Installation: You can install your mods, regardless of their folder structure. Just drag-Drop your mod archive file (install archive files (zip,gzip,tar,tar.gzip,tar.bzip2,tar.lzip,.xz,.rar,.7zip) or extracted mod foldersto main window and it automatically installs it to Mount&Blade II:Bannerlord
- Importing/Exporting/Saving Presets: You can save mods to an existing preset, saving as a different preset or exporting it for other users to consume. You can also import Mod Organizer 2's .csv mod files.
- Configuring Presets:You can remove mods that you don't like from presets that are already in your preset list.
- Warnings/Information/Download Links: It shows information about mods that require each other and giving opportunity for you to download mods from their provided source if preset creator added this information or from nexusmods by manually searching. This launcher doesn't treat you like a kid and doesn't show unnecessary bunch of warnings, you will only see things that are related to you.
- Built-in Unblocking Tool: Comes with a simple button that should unblocking all mod .dll files with one click so that you wouldn't get cannot-read error. This is, however, loosely tested so let me know if you get issues.
- Engine and Game Configuration: You can access Bannerlord and Engine settings through one panel
- Multiple Languages: By default it comes with English and Turkish. If you want to contribute to new languages, send me a DM with the translated file. All you need to do is, select English.xml in languages, translate it to your language and name file as your language name (ie if German, translate everything to german and name new file as Deustch.xml and system will automatically read it )

Installation
Prerequisite
This application requires .NET 6 Runtime. If you see an error, download.NET Desktop Runtimeto make sure you have required components

You have two options:
1 - Using Installer
I created a simple installer for you that installs the launcher and creates a desktop icon.
During the installation, just point to your Bannerlord folder as installation path
i.e like C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Mount & Blade II Bannerlord/
and it will install the new launcher there.

Installation should take 5 seconds at max, once it's done you should be able to see the icon on your desktop. If not, go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Mount & Blade II Bannerlord\NovusLauncher and find NovusLauncher.exe file

2 - Manual Installation
If you support "I dont trust installers" team, just download the manual pack, go to your Mount & Blade II Bannerlord folder, and put it to there. It should look like this

Novus Bannerlord Launcher (12)

Click to NovusLauncher.exe in NovusLauncher folder, and it should open up. You might want to create a shortcut to this, but that part is up to you.

Note: If your antivirus gives you a hard time about this (which it might) whitelist the application and it will stop causing trouble. Antiviruses are very high on alert, rightly so, for .exe files that are not signed with certificate and since this is a small project, I didn't bother signing anything. However, once again, it's very much up to you, if you don't trust, don't use it and delete it.

Basic FAQ
Is this a mod?
Not exactly. It's a standalone launcher for mods and Bannerlord
Is this for SP only?
For the time being, yes.
Can I provide translations for my own language?
Sure. If you want them to be officially included in next patch to this launcher, send me a DM. If not, publish it as any translation and make this one a dependency.
Does this require any dependency? Harmony, buttrstack etc?
No.
I'm playing with X and Y mods, when I start campaign it crashes?
Not related to this launcher. If you are seeing Bannerlord's loading screen even for a second, Novus' watch ends there.
Game is not launching but launcher works fine?
I'm getting Steam not initialized error even though it's initialized?
Start the launcher with Administrator privileges
I think I found a bug in launcher?
Report it.
Is this a virus?
No. It wouldn't be in here if it was a virus. Nexusmods is very strict about it, which is a good thing
Unblocking DLL, sounds shady, should I do this?
No if you don't trust the sources of the mods. DLL unblocking can cause big issues if you downloaded the mods from shady places. Always try to stick to mods in legitimate sites like nexusmods.
How can I uninstall this?
Like any other software, just use Add & Remove Programs. If you installed through manual installation, just delete the folder.
Is Win7 supported?
Out of the box, it should be. I didn't test it though
